Brenda King-Gibson came to the meeting this morning to tell us about the work that Blue Star Mothers do. The local chapter (Ionia-Kent-Montcalm Counties) was founded in 2012 and quickly undertook the Treasures for Troops program. The first year, they sent out over 50 boxes, and this year they sent over 250! These boxes go to service members stationed around the world, and can help make the holidays easier for folks who are away from family and in potentially dangerous situations. We were thrilled to be able to give the group a check for $250 to help with the program.
